Trigger Point Therapy
What is Trigger Point Therapy?
A trigger point is a hyper-irritable spot that is painful. It is called a trigger point because it “triggers” a painful response.
But a trigger point is more than a tender nodule. It affects not only the muscle where the trigger point is located, but also causes “referred pain” in tissues supplied by nerves.
Trigger points are located in a taut band of muscles fibres. The trigger point is the most tender point in the band.
Belle often says “It has taken a while to get the muscle in that condition, and it will likely take more than one massage to get rid of it.” But the good news is that each treatment should feel better than the last.
These points are often areas of chronic “holding” and you need to learn how to move in different ways to keep them from recurring. There are also indications that Trigger Points are created by emotional negative thought patterns, and so breath work and positive thought re-programming is encouraged to assist in the healing process.
Belle approaches healing from a whole-person perspective, and so healing from intense, or prolonged pain may need more than just “trigger point / remedial massage style” treatment.
This is where Emotion Code and Body Code techniques are used. Belle will muscle test you to release the underlying cause of the muscle imbalance. This method is far more effective than simply massage alone.
